Bronchospasms

Mommy had a very nice kangaroo time with you and transitioned you to go back into your bed.  The transition went very smoothly, you didn't "ding" and your stats stayed high until Suzanne our nurse was trying to situate you back into bed.  Then, your heart rate began to drop and your saturation too...lower, lower, lower.  Red lights and lots of dinging.  I held your head and arms to contain you to hopefully calm you down, but then we looked at the monitors and it read 68 HR and 33sat (normal is 150HR and 95sat)...and it just stayed still.  It was like the computer was frozen.  You couldn't come back up and I was getting very worried, praying and willing your stats to come back up.  Then Suzanne said she didn't think your chest was moving.  How can you not be breathing when you are on the vent?!  You are supposed to get at least the minimum 25bpm!  But sure enough when I moved my hands that were containing you, your chest was not moving.  I asked if we needed to bag you, but she waited.  I really just wanted her to bag you and get some air into those lungs, but then she tilted you on your right side and patted you and talked to you, coaxing you to relax and breath.  FINALLY, your lungs and muscles relaxed and you got the air you needed.  It felt like forever and Mommy was very worried for you.  Suzanne said that was a bronchospasm, which you have had before, but I never realized what exactly it was.  This was the first time I really experienced it first hand.  Last time you had those the vent settings were upped a lot.  Praying that is not the case this time.
